RAY CASTILLO

What inspired you to join this SBCA?
Our company has been affiliated with this organization for numerous years. Our former president had actively participated on the board and spoke highly of the valuable experiences gained. I wanted to have a firsthand experience of what the organization has to offer.
Describe your professional background and key accomplishments relevant to your role on the board.
With 32 years of experience as a carpenter/framer and 7 years as a business owner in the Santa Barbara area, I've progressed from a helper/apprentice to a carpenter, supervisor, and now president of our company. I believe my journey can offer insights and assistance to others in their careers.
What motivates you in your work within the construction industry?
During my career, I've received valuable support and guidance from those who preceded me in the industry. I have a genuine desire to pay it forward and assist others within the construction field.
Share a notable experience or achievement during your time on the board.
While my time on the board has been relatively short, I've had the chance to interact with fellow board members. Witnessing their dedication and competence has been inspiring as we collectively work towards advancing the organization.
How do you see SBCA evolving in the next few years?
I would like for the organization to be a solid resource for our current members and future members. Our focus is on offering educational opportunities to keep our community informed about industry changes in law, insurance, and best practices, ensuring the well-being and responsibility of their companies, employees, and ultimately their livelihoods.
Outside of your professional life, what are some hobbies or interests?
I enjoy walking, cycling, working out, and spending time with my family, grandchildren, and friends.
