More Submissions to Check Out

Isla Vista Modern

This 1970s house on the westside of Isla Vista was re-envisioned for a young professional couple inspired by art, world travel and their modern family lifestyle. With the renovation complete, the owners enjoy improved connections and functionality, a harmonious balance between modern elements and natural materials, and a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living spaces. They were amazed by the process of turning a 30-year-old house into something that fits their personalities and taste. As they describe, “it feels like waking up in our dream house every day.”

Lilac Estate

The client’s goals for this extensive whole house remodel were to 1) upgrade the 14,000 sq. ft. home, the former Jonathan Winters estate built in 1977, with a French Tudor style and modern features throughout, and 2) add an upscale elegance to not only the buildings but the entire estate. An addition connects the main house to the refurbished garage that now features a private theater on a new second floor. New landscaping, patios, driveways, and a pool and spa were additional components of the project. The remodel of a separate 615 sq. ft. guest house was started and completed before work began on the main house so the owners could live onsite when visiting during construction. The final product brought life back to this old estate.

La Casa de Alegria

This one of a kind Montecito home is comprised of four charming structures on this half acre property. An exquisite main house, a delightful guest house, a workshop converted into a movie theatre, and a detached garage act as this Hollywood family’s “Big City” retreat. The goal of this project was to preserve and re-develop the unique character and qualities of this pre-existing compound, while using artful creativity to design a central outdoor living space that connects each building with a delightful gardenscape. Every breathtaking detail was considered to ensure that this tight knit family and their fortunate guests could make “La Casa De Alegria” a special place where the joys of life can be celebrated for generations to come.
