We are a group of construction professionals who are working to make a difference in our CentralCoast community. Since 1948 we have been promoting integrity and quality in our industry and will continue that focus into the future, even as we adapt to change.
One transformation that is already upon us is digital permits and plans. The new SBCA online plan room is a perfect entry into paperless projects. Included in membership dues, the online plan room can be used just like a traditional one. Our ongoing seminars and training get members up to speed quickly.
But perhaps the biggest change will be the construction industry’s role in energy conservation and environmental sustainability. The buildings we produce, how we build them and the energy they use, form a huge piece of the energy pie, larger even than transportation. We want to get out in front of this issue. Consumers in Santa Barbara want green buildings now. In the future, communities will require them. That’s why we are leading California with our Built Green Santa Barbara program. Santa Barbara can and will lead in this new building dynamic to save energy and protect our environment.
As well as doing our part to help future generations, the SBCA is active in our community today. We support local programs by providing grants, scholarships, training and education. And we help construction industry professionals improve service through our safety programs, workforce development and continuing education.
