GET REFERRALS

Your listing in the current Directory puts your name in front of potential customers throughout the Santa Barbara area. To ensure that we represent all our members equally, we do not make individual referrals. During emergencies, however, (fire, flood or earthquake) we will give referrals by specialty and availability of our membership, and we work with the city and county building departments and the media to inform residents about this service.

KNOW WHO’S WHO

The SBCA directory is the most comprehensive source of information about local construction professionals. Members are listed alphabetically and by specialty. The directory is distributed through more than 600 businesses throughout Santa Barbara, including local suppliers, county and city building departments, by special target mailings and online at www.sbcontractors.org. The online directory is updated monthly and contains links to member websites. Advertising space is available to members only.

Our monthly newsletter brings timely and critical information right to your email box:

The newsletter is available electronically, via email and on our website (which includes archived issues). You pick how you’d like to receive it.

MAKE CONTACTS

Meet other members and exchange services within the Association. Network or socialize with other members at meetings or at association events, including our annual BBQ and Holiday party. If you want to introduce new products or services to the industry, please contact us to find out how we can help.

LEARN FROM INTERESTING SPEAKERS

Be entertained and educated by our roster of engaging and knowledgeable speakers at the monthly Builder Breakfast or at a Builder Lunch. The speaker and the event are advertised in our newsletter in advance and through e-mail updates.

KEEP UP WITH CHANGES IN THE INDUSTRY

It can be difficult to stay up-to-date on legal and regulatory changes affecting the construction industry, such as technical and product advancements, new thinking in sales and marketing strategies, evolving management and production tools and other ongoing changes. SBCA makes it easier. Throughout the year, we offer continuing education classes on subjects of vital importance to our membership. Sample topics include:

• Built Green/green building seminars
• Legal, HR and financial seminars & updates
• Workers Compensation group insurance
• Health insurance group program

GET SOME MORE GREEN

Green building is here! We have a pioneering Built Green program with easy-to-use tools. Participate through our Built Green program. SBCA supports the use of recycled and environmentally friendly building products. Visit the new Built Green Resource Center.

ACCESS PLANS ONLINE

View, download and print job documents from the SBCA’s online planroom. Plans, specs and addenda are available 24/7. You also have access to 24 other planrooms for a small fee. All you need is an internet connection. Contact the SBCA office to sign up or to schedule a free demonstration. The SBCA also has a physical planroom.

GOLF FOR A GOOD CAUSE

The SBCA hosts a popular golf tournament in spring of each year with the proceeds benefiting the SBCA’s Construction Education Fund and Building Fund. This event is our main annual fundraiser, and provides your company with great exposure to local businesses and industry professionals.

ADVERTISE TO A TARGETED AUDIENCE

Only members may advertise in our annual membership directory and monthly newsletter. Contact our office for advertising rates in both publications. Advertising space is limited. All advertising is subject to board approval.

WIN THE “BUILDER OF THE YEAR” AWARD

This awards dinner has become a “must attend” event. A panel of industry experts selects winners in various categories to recognize and promote excellence within our membership. The awards are based on overall quality of fabrication, performance and aesthetics of a project. The top winner is designated “Builder of the Year,” a most prestigious and coveted award. The “Sub-Contractor of the Year” is chosen by the membership.
